Clockwork Fish and Electric Eels

I forgot I had a blog for a while, here are some new pieces I’ve been working on since my solo last year. Clockwork Angler: This one was a commission on paper.

The Wiseman: Inspired by the character from the movie Labyrinth.

Here he is in that wonderful scene:

Fabulous Steed: This one was painted for Modern Eden’s Grotesque show, painted on tea stained paper. Loose leaf tea is wonderful for that mottled look old paper develops.

Staining paper into nice shades is the best use of tea I think. I can’t stand the taste of it.

Here’s a spacebeast, Dark Matter:

I painted this one for another show at Modern Eden, ‘Universe’ curated by Michael Cuffe of Warholian, this one opens on the 12th of April 2014. I was thinking of spiral galaxy shapes with the composition of this one. This beast has semi transparent guts, and I do believe it’s the first time I’ve painted a brain.

Tank Walker: I just finished this guy today. Surprised at myself for wanting to use so much yellow.

They’re electric eels by the way.

I’m pretty excited to be close to launching an etsy shop, for a whole new creative endeavour. If you’ve been following me on Instagram you might have seen a few sneak peeks like this:

I’ve been hand embossing pewter sheet, also known as repoussé or repujado, for a couple of years now. I’m midway through creating some branding and taking product shots. Excite!
