A skull in a deep sea diving suit with a pet moray eel

35cm x 30cm (approx 13.5″ x 12″)

Acrylic, gouache, watercolour and pastel on Arches 300gsm paper

“Being led into danger by one who doesn’t realise how deep they are.”

I painted this one for an exhibition of greyscale works. Working with a limited palette is a great exercise as you focus a lot more on tonal balance.
This skull diver has a flag and a pet moray, that I painted to look a lot more like an old school sea monster than a real moray.
