A crowned gharial crocodile with its jaws tied up by thorns

2018

28cm x 36cm (approx 11″ x 14″)

Acrylic, gouache, watercolour and pastel on Arches 300gsm paper

Gharial crocodiles have the strangest proportions – their jaws are long and thin with a bulbous snout at the end.
This one’s jaws are tied together with a tangle of thorns.
Mostly warm greys and deep olive greens but I used some reds in the underpainting and accents.
