A mechanical fish assemblage sculpture with a tiny passenger

2020

12cm tall x 24cm wide x 2.5cm deep (approx 4.7″ x 9.5″ x 1″)

Mixed media assemblage

I started this sculpture in 2019 and it went through many incarnations before I started on it seriously again during the 2020 covid lockdowns. Working out all the tiny details that made up the central mechanical section was a great diversion from worrying about the pandemic. All my worries ended up in the face of the fish.
I used epoxy clay for the body, embossed metal strips on either side of the centre and the mechanical section was strips of card, metal rivets, pipes and wires, cogs and watch parts and some tiny military model stencils in there too.
